Today, the ECOWAS Joint Committee on Administration, Finance and Budget, Public Accounts, Macroeconomic Policy, and Economic Research commenced a four-day meeting in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, under the theme: “The Role of the ECOWAS Parliament in Community Budget Formulation and Monitoring.”
As Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee, I emphasized in my introductory remarks the various measures we will implement to strengthen our oversight function on the Executive, ensuring the judicious and transparent use of resources for the people.
This Joint Committee meeting will provide Representatives with a deeper understanding of the role of the ECOWAS Parliament in Community Budget Formulation and Monitoring, equipping members with the necessary knowledge and skills to ensure the prudent management of community resources.
