ODE-ITSEKIRI ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT TO BE COMPLETED IN RECORD TIME – DELTA GOVT

The Delta State Government has reassured residents of Ode-Itsekiri, Orugbo, Ajigba, Inorin, Usele and Ugbodede communities that the ongoing electrification project in their areas will be completed within a short time.

The Commissioner for Energy, Engr. Michael Anoka FNSE, gave the assurance on Thursday during an inspection visit to the project sites across the affected communities.

During the inspection, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of work already done. He, however, urged the contractor handling the project to sustain the current momentum and even improve the pace of work to ensure that the project is delivered within the expected timeframe.

According to him, the electrification project is very important to the Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, who has directed the Ministry of Energy to closely monitor the progress of the work.

The Governor’s directive, Anoka said, is to ensure that the project is completed on schedule and that all installations meet the required standards and specifications.

Engr. Anoka explained that the government is determined to extend electricity to communities that have been without stable power supply or totally disconnected, but urged affected areas to be patient with the government.

Speaking with journalists during the visit, the Commissioner said that the project will bring several benefits when completed.

According to him, reliable electricity will encourage small businesses to grow, support local economic activities, improve livelihoods and security, and enhance the overall development of the communities.

The Honourable Commissioner further noted that the state government remains committed to providing basic infrastructure that will support sustainable development across Delta State.
