Tragedy struck around the main gate of University of Benin after unknown gunmen allegedly shot a man dead in broad daylight.
According to eyewitness accounts, the assailants reportedly used another vehicle to block a Mercedes-Benz GLK before opening fire multiple times on the driver.
Videos circulating online from the scene showed the victim slumped inside the vehicle, while several bullet holes were visible on the windshield.
Sources said the victim reportedly died on the spot following the attack.
The incident triggered panic around the UNIBEN main gate area as residents, students, and passersby gathered in shock over the development.
Security authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident or confirm the identity of the victim and attackers.
